Health and Safety Courses Running in Birmingham

SafeWise run twenty-five classroom health and safety courses and eighteen of them carry Birmingham as their location on our course list. We have been training and advising employers since 2012.

Working Out Who Needs Which Certificate

Start with who does what, rather than with a catalogue.

Operatives on a construction site may need the one day CITB health and safety site awareness course
Supervisors need SSSTS over two days
Site managers need SMSTS over 5 days, done as a block course or 1 day per week for 5 weeks.
IOSH Managing Safely, three days, is the one for managers and senior staff away from site
Asbestos awareness, three hours, covers anyone whose work could disturb the fabric of an older building
First Aid. How many trained first aiders you keep is a separate question, and the answer comes out of your own first aid needs assessment.

The Date on the Certificate Is a Deadline

Certificates run out, and nobody looks at the date until a main contractor asks to see the card. The SSSTS refresher renews the qualification for a further five years, but the delegate must be holding an unexpired SSSTS certificate on the day. Let it lapse and the one-day refresher is closed to them, so the full two-day course must be sat again. First aid is tighter still. That refresher must be completed no more than twenty-eight days after the previous certificate expired, and past the window it is back to the three-day course.

More About Us

Eighteen Courses in Birmingham:
Most of the health and safety catalogue, including SSSTS, SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely, first aid at work and confined space work, is listed with Birmingham as its location.

Renew Before It Lapses:
An expired SSSTS certificate closes the door on the one day refresher. The first aid window closes twenty eight days after expiry.

One Day a Week Instead of Five:
SMSTS can be taken as five days together, or broken into five separate weeks, whichever costs you less disruption.

Check the Location Before You Book:
Some courses are taught at Wolverhampton instead. Every course page carries its own location, so it is worth a look first.
