The Difference Between an Inspection and an Audit

For an inspection, an advisor walks your workplace, premises or construction site and looks at conditions on the day, the way people are working, and anything that presents an immediate risk. An audit goes deeper and examines your management arrangements as well as your paperwork, so it includes your policies and who is responsible for what, your safe working procedures, training and supervision, how accidents and near misses are dealt with, how you consult your employees and how you control contractors on site. What Happens on the Day of the Visit

The advisor comes to you. They raise anything serious while they are still standing in front of it, so you are not left waiting on a document before you can start putting it right. They photograph whatever a picture explains better than a paragraph, and they write down what you are already doing well alongside the problems.
